To the Laos - To the People of God – On the Feast of the Epiphany

Dear People of God

The Feast of the Epiphany is so special but here at home in Southern Africa it comes in the middle of our summer holiday and most parishioners are away. We still celebrate it of course, even if we do so on the Sunday following.

This year I send you, our parishioners and others who might read this, a short message wishing you good health and renewal as we celebrate the feast of the manifestation of our Lord to all people. May God manifest himself in our lives and wherever we live and work.

In South Africa, as we embark on another chapter in our historic journey, let us remind ourselves and our country that roads are made for journeys of growth, not for destinations. And here and everywhere, let us grow in serving one another for the common good.

Let us be concerned about each of our countries, but also for the good of the world at large. Intensify your prayers that President Trump and the leaders of North Korea will grow in awareness of the dangers of nuclear war and stop making irrational threats to each other.

Finally, congratulations to all matriculants who have passed. Those who have not, use the second-chance opportunities offered by the country’s education department. Pray that the ill-timed announcement of free tertiary education will not create chaos at registration time as the university term begins.

May you have a blessed Epiphany!
