The Archbishop recently participated in a 24-hour webcast dealing with climate change, hosted by the former American president, Al Gore. This segment on South Africa was described by the producers as follows:
In South Africa, the frontlines of the fight for climate solutions are often the frontlines of the fight for greater equality and opportunity, energy access, and good governance. In this hour, we’ll explore how activists driving progress on climate and pushing the state utility to scale back coal are also helping create a more fair and just South Africa.
We’ll talk to leaders at the forefront of this movement, such as the Most Reverend Dr. Thabo Cecil Makgoba, the archbishop of Cape Town and metropolitan of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, and Solly Msimanga, executive mayor of Tshwane. The hour will also feature music and an appearance from multi-platinum singer Ellie Goulding, sharing her perspectives on the global climate fight.
FEATURING: Host: Jamil Smith; Social Media Corner: Calum Worthy;
Featured Guests: Ellie Goulding, Thabo Makgoba, Solly Msimanga;
